Penelitian bertujuan untuk mengetahui: Pelayanan Administrasi di Bagian Tata Usaha Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Batusangkar Kabupaten Tanah Datar, kendala dalam pelayanan dan Upaya yang dilakukan dalam Pelayanan Administrasi di Bagian Tata Usaha Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 1 Batusangkar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penulisan skripsi ini yaitu kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Penelitian ini digunakan untuk mendeskripsikan tentang segala sesuatu yang berkaitan dengan pelayanan administrasi di tata usaha SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar. Sumber data dari penelitian ini adalah data primer dan data sekunder. Subjek penelitian adalah kepala sekolah, kepala tata usaha sekolah, guru, operator dapodik, wali murid dan siswa di sekolah dengan menggunakan Teknik purposive sampling yaitu penentuan informan berdasarkan pada pertimbangan tertentu. Teknik pengumpulan data penelitian ini menggunakan observasi, interview atau wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pelayanan di bagian tata usaha SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar belum terlaksana dengan baik, kendala yang terlihat dalam sistem pelayanan administrasi di SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar di antaranya kurang memadainya sarana dan prasarana dalam pelayanan tata usaha serta kurangnya tenaga pegawai yang memiliki latar belakang pendidikan di bidang pelayanan administrasi. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi kendala tersebut yaitu dengan mempersiapkan segala kebutuhan pelayanan administrasi dengan baik di antaranya sarana dan prasarana serta tenaga kepegawaiannya. Hal ini yang menjadi perhatian khusus agar pelayanan administrasi di SMA Negeri 1 Batusangkar bisa memberikan pelayanan yang optimal dengan hasil yang memuaskan bagi masyarakat maupun sesama rekan kerja.
